Title: Telecommunication Analyst
Location: Quincy, MA
Duration: 3 month contract to hire
Key Responsibilities:
Provides technical support on data and voice network; answers technical questions and implements appropriate problem resolution; maintains runbook documentation for all production support procedures.
Conducts initial setup of productions systems and hardware; Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance for data and voice infrastructure.
Acts as liaison for outside vendors during installation, configuration, repair, and/or removal of equipment or services.
Follows and suggests potential improvements to relevant operational standards and procedures, including those for performance, backup, security, disaster recovery and housekeeping functions.
Strong documentation skills using Microsoft productivity applications (Visio, Word, Excel, etc.)
Prepare cost and time estimates for individual deliverables.
Participate with senior team members on system technical design and problem remediation; utilize technical knowledge and outside resources as necessary in order to recommend effective solutions.
Coordinate production implementation with Production Technical Services, Operations, application staff members, and third party vendors.
Documentation of steps necessary to administer systems and procedures required to implement new software and hardware.
After-hours production support as required.
Participate in on-call, 24/7 coverage on a rotational basis.
Occasional travel to Company locations in MA and CT required.
Data Communications Skills Required:
Thorough understanding of the OSI model
5 Years experience with data communications technologies (routers, switches, switches, firewalls, load balancers and VPN appliances).
Experience in troubleshooting routing and switching solutions using TCP/IP and to a lesser extent SNA.
Can initiate, escalate and follow through with telecommunications carriers for trouble reporting and circuit installations
Familiarity with Intel hardware and operating systems such as Linux and Windows
Voice Communications Skills Required:
Experience working with Nortel PBX, Avaya phone and voicemail systems or other voice technologies.
Thorough understanding of Analog and Digital communication methods, such as DID, T1, Frame Relay, MPLS, E&M, SIP, H.323, and fax
Expert in implementing and troubleshooting routing and switching solutions using TCP/IP and to a lesser extent SNA.
Experience with IVR and CTI systems hardware and software systems.
